Who is funding this study?
We have received no specific funding for this work.
Why should you take part in this study?
We invite you to take part in this study because, as a researcher at the University of Queensland, you have unique insights into the experiences of EMCRs at this institution.
Why are we doing this study?
We are doing this study to explore when UQ EMCRs feel most appreciated and how UQ might build those experiences into every EMCR’s career.
What happens if you say, “Yes, I want to be in the study”?
Participants will be asked to complete a short anonymous, online “Appreciative Inquiry” survey involving four (4) questions. All questions are open-ended, so you may spend as much or as little time answering them as you choose. However, we anticipate that completing the survey will take you between 5-10 minutes.
How will the study results be disseminated?
We will disseminate the findings of this study as follows:
·      in a report to Professor Bronwyn Harch, UQ Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research (UQ DVCR);
·      at the UQ EMCR Appreciation Day event on 18 September 2019;
·      at academic conferences and in international research journals; and
·      through various public fora (e.g., social and news media).

Who will read or view your survey responses?
The Co-Investigators listed above will be the only people with access to individual survey responses. None of the research team members will show survey responses to the public, or to any audiences, for commercial gain. We will never give them away or sell them.
How will your survey responses be stored?
Survey responses will be stored for at least five years, according to UQ’s Research Data Management Policy, which satisfies The Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and applicable legislation. Any publications resulting from this study will be made available via UQ’s institutional repository, UQ eSpace.
Is there any way being in this study could be bad for you?
We do not believe there is anything in this study that could harm you or be bad for you.
What are the benefits of participating?
There are no direct benefits to participating in this study. However, it will provide you with an opportunity to reflect on your experience as an EMCR at UQ and to provide input to the UQ DVCR about how UQ might best appreciate EMCRs.
What will happen if you do not want to participate?
Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary. Your decision whether or not to participate will not prejudice your future relations with the University of Queensland in any way. You are also able to withdraw from the study at any time. However, please note that as the survey is anonymous, your responses cannot be withdrawn once you have completed the survey.
How will your privacy be protected?
All survey responses will be anonymous.
Will you have access to the results?
All survey participants will be invited to attend the 2019 UQ Appreciation Day event on 18 September, at which the results of this study will be presented. If you would also like to receive an electronic copy of the report provided to UQ’s DVCR, please contact Dr Kate Power whose email address is listed at the top of this Participant Information Sheet.
Will you be paid for taking part in this research study?
You will not be paid for taking part in this study.
