Welcome to the Research Participant Recruitment Portal

Thank you for visiting this page.
We appreciate your time, support, and commitment to clinical research.

What is this research study about?
The objective of this study is to better understand the impact of congenital heart disease on parents and children. Congenital heart disease is understood as problems relating to the heart, heart valves, or major blood vessels that are present at birth. It is the most common type of congenital condition worldwide.

This study is part of a doctoral research project at the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Queensland, Australia. The study procedures have been reviewed by experts and approved by the university ethics committee (also known as Institutional Review Board).

Who can participate in this research study?
To participate in this study, you have to be either a parent or legal guardian of a child or adolescent diagnosed with congenital heart disease aged 5 to 18 yearsTo ensure that we collect information from a wide range of people, you are invited to complete a screening questionnaire on this portal. This will take 3 to 5 minutes to complete. Your answers will help us to find out if you can take part.

If you meet our criteria, you will be immediately directed to the next step. At that stage, we will provide more specific information about the study. If you agree to participate, you will be asked to electronically agree to an informed consent form. Once we have your consent, you will be directed to a brief online questionnaire about you and your child.

If you do not meet the criteria to participate in this research study, you will not be directed to the next step. The most common reason for not meeting our criteria is that we may already have enough volunteers who filled up the number of participants required at that time.

How is your privacy protected?
Your privacy is important to us. We assure you that no information that could identify you, your child, or any other family members will be publicly released. No personal records or information from a third-party (e.g., doctor, teacher, etc.) will be accessed at any point in this study.

Once again, thank you for your time and generosity.
